Abstract

The poverty rate of South Kalimantan Province in September 2014 amounted to 4.81 percent. Slightly increased by 0.13 percent compared to the state in March 2014 which amounted to 4.68 percent.

The percentage of poor people in urban areas in September 2014 amounted to 3.68 per cent and decreased compared to March 2014 amounted to 3.79 percent. Whereas in rural areas has increased, from 5.33 percent in March 2014 to 5.64 percent in September 2014.

The role of food commodities to the poverty line is still greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). In September 2014, the role of Food Poverty Line (FPL) to the Poverty Line (PL) of 71.96 percent.

According to the poverty status, the population is grouped into four categories, namely population Very Poor (SM), Poor (M), Almost Poor (HM), Vulnerable Poor Others (RML) and Non-Poor (TM). The poor is a combination of population with very poor category (SM) and poor (M). The percentage of the population is very poor and poor in perdesan more than in urban areas. In September 2014, the urban population is very poor at 0.72 percent and 1.58 percent in rural areas.
In the period from March to September 2014, Poverty Depth Index (P1) and Poverty Severity Index (P2) has increased. In March 2014, P1 Index of 0.629, while in September 2014 amounted to 0.652. P2 index, in March 2014 amounted to 0.141, while September 2014 amounted to 0.151
